Every year, Business Horizons information is mailed to teachers, counselors and administrators at Iowa's public and private high schools. With dedication in promoting the program, students are given the opportunity of a lifetime - attending Business Horizons. Year after year, the program is a success!
We Need Your Help!
Business Horizons is primarily promoted with the help of loyal teachers, counselors and administrators. The Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation needs your help in identifying student who will benefit from this unique experience. Spread the word in your school by distributing applications and brochures, nominating students, making school announcements, writing articles for your school newspaper, and supporting other promotional initiatives. There is no limit to the number of students that may attend from your school.
Contact us to learn more about the program and have your name added to our mailing list. We are happy to send brochures to your school, as well as schedule a time with you to come visit and speak with your students about what this opportunity could mean for them.
Prepare Your Students for Higher Education
Hosted each year on one of Iowa's college campuses, Business Horizons enables students to prepare for their future after high school and explore higher education opportunities. Students will:
Experience life on a college campus (e.g. stay in dorms, eat cafeteria food and use recreation facilities)
Meet hundreds of new people and make new friends
Strengthen college applications
Enhance their career readiness
Additional Incentives for your Students
Students who successfully complete Business Horizons have the opportunity to earn transferable college credit (cost of credit not included in program fee). Central College also offers all Business Horizons graduates who apply, are admitted and choose to attend Central, a $1,500 renewable (4 yrs) scholarship. This scholarship is in addition to aid already awarded by the college, not to exceed tuition.
An Experience Not Offered in Schools
Students work one-on-one with numerous business professionals throughout the program, gaining priceless insight into the world of business and experiencing what it means to be a valuable, productive member of the work force.
While their Industry Advisors guide them throughout the week, students also work with financial, marketing and business experts. In addition, they have the opportunity to speak with some of Iowa's most influential business executives during general assemblies and small group meetings.
Most importantly, business professionals provide students with the knowledge, skills and support they need to succeed long after they leave the program. Students are better prepared to successfully transition to higher education, enter the work force, and become successful entrepreneurs and/or business people in a global marketplace.
